Dr. Shazia Shaikh is an early-career researcher in Ireland, and completed a PhD in Politics and International Relations from the University of Mumbai in 2023. Dr. Shaikh is pursuing research on race, colonialism, and migration, exploring how the Indian diaspora is navigating social integration while constructing “home” in Ireland, and why the Irish government must robustly implement anti-racism policy to support the integration of immigrants for my postdoctoral proposal.
Her scholarly contributions are aligned with her positionality as an insider, having lived the experience of racism and advocating for breaking the silence on racism in the community. Dr. Shaikh is actively engaged with civil society and media platforms to flag the issues of racist bullying and under-reporting of the racist incidents in Shannon.
