Cllr Supriya Singh is a Dublin City Councillor representing the Raheny–Donaghmede Local Electoral Area and currently serves as Chairperson of Dublin City Council’s North Central Area Committee.
With a professional background spanning journalism, communications and human resources, her journey in Ireland has been shaped by community building, women’s empowerment and public service.
In 2017, Supriya founded Indian Ladies in Ireland, which has grown into a community of more than 6,000 Indian women across Ireland, supporting women to build networks, access information and opportunities, showcase their talents, and promote women-led businesses and entrepreneurship.
Supriya entered electoral politics through grassroots community work in 2022. In June 2024, she was elected as a Fine Gael Councillor for Raheny–Donaghmede, becoming the first councillor from a migrant background elected from the Donaghmede area and the first woman elected to the current Donaghmede Local Electoral Area since its establishment in 2019.
Since her election, Supriya has continued to advocate for greater visibility and representation of the Indian community. She proposed the initiative to have Diwali recognised as part of Dublin City’s civic celebrations and worked closely with the former Lord Mayor of Dublin to bring it forward.
She has also been a strong voice against racism raising concerns affecting the Indian community with senior Government Ministers and the An Garda Siochana.
Alongside her work as an elected representative, Supriya continues to champion women’s participation, community leadership and cultural inclusion, while helping to build stronger connections between Ireland’s diverse communities.
